Chalk & Cover started as a single Coimbatore counter helping a handful of neighbourhood schools finish their booklists on time. Today we support 120+ schools and 40,000+ students, but the goal hasn't changed — make school shopping calm instead of chaotic.

How it began

Built around one frustrating June morning.

Our founder spent an entire Saturday visiting four different shops to complete one Class 6 booklist — missing the graph notebook at every stop. Chalk & Cover was built to fix exactly that: one organised counter (and now one organised website) where a full class list, or a full school's requirement, can be sourced in a single visit.

We still pack every order the way we'd want our own child's bag packed: checked against the list, correctly labelled, and ready before the term starts.

Milestones

From one counter to a citywide supply network

2016

One counter, one street

Opened on Market Street, Coimbatore, stocking textbooks and notebooks for six nearby schools.

2019

Bulk pricing introduced

Launched tiered bulk pricing so classrooms and school offices could order without negotiating each time.

2022

School Tie-Up program

Formal tie-ups began, matching custom booklists to individual schools and their preferred publishers.

2025

120+ partner schools

Grew to serve 120+ schools and over 40,000 students, with same-day packing for orders placed before 3pm.
